Terms & Conditions for Pupils
1. Introduction
The following terms and conditions represent the basis of which GetDriving.co.uk are offering driving tuition to you.
All the instructors you will find on this site are DSA approved instructors. They all run their own driving schools under the franchise of www.GetDriving.co.uk and so have agreed to be bound by the following terms and conditions.
GetDriving.co.uk operates as a separate entity from the driving instructor which has been authorised to act as a booking agent.
Please note – All driving instructors in the UK are self employed and so the contract for service is between yourselves and the local driving instructor. All major driving schools in the UK (e.g. BSM, AA...etc) operate in this way using self employed, franchised driver trainers.
2. General Conduct
All GetDriving instructors are bound by a professional code of conduct meaning that your instructor will be polite, tidy and punctual. Your instructor will behave in a professional manner at all times. Your instructor’s car will be fitted with dual controls and will be clean and tidy; it will also be fully comprehensively insured for driving tuition and for the driving test. Your instructor will not smoke in the car whilst giving instruction and will not use your lesson time for any other business, personal or otherwise.
3. Qualifications
All of the trainers you will find at GetDriving.co.uk are fully qualified driving instructors, they are all approved by the Driving Standards Agency and so hold an ADI licence. This means that your instructor is proficient in the manner of driver training and is held on a government register. They are also re-tested every 2-4 years to maintain that they are still delivering a high standard of instruction.
4. Driving Licence and eyesight
All pupils require a valid UK provisional driving licence (or full licence for refresher lessons)before driving tuition can commence, this is available from the DVLA, this licence must be brought to your first lesson and shown to your instructor to prove you are licensed to learn to drive. You must also be able to read a number plate from 20.5 meters away, if glasses or contact lenses are needed to do this then they must be worn at all times whilst driving.
5. Payment and Cancelation
Payment for your first two hours tuition is to be made to GetDriving.co.uk by a credit or debit card, any further payments for driving lessons are to be made directly to your driving instructor by cash or cheque at the cost of his/her lesson prices. In some cases your instructor may be able to accept card payments. This will be made known to yourself by your instructor when you receive tuition.
Please note – Payment for your first two hours lesson is non refundable once the booking is accepted from your instructor. If you require to cancel the lesson and re-arrange for another date or time, this must be done by contacting your driving instructor at least 48 hours before the lesson is due to begin. If this is not done the instructor reserves the right to charge you for that lesson and any subsequent hours booked for that session. This is done solely at the driving instructor’s discretion and in no way affects your statutory rights.
6. Lesson Price/Changes
The offer of first 2 hours for £25 is for online bookings only and for pupils needing driving lessons to reach test standard. This offer is not available for pupils wishing to book a Get Driving car/instructor for short notice test appointments. Other offers for this service may be available by contacting Get Driving by phone.
The price of lessons available from GetDriving.co.uk, which have not yet been paid for can be changed at any time, any lessons pre-paid will remain at the price at time of purchase. Your driving instructor may change his/her prices at any time but will notify you of such changes as and when.
7. Lesson Postponement
In some cases your driving instructor may have to postpone lessons due to weather or car problems or in very rare cases for personal reasons. The instructor will endeavour to give you as much notice as possible but due to these cases being unpredictable lessons may be postponed at short notice. If a lesson is postponed or cancelled by your instructor you are not required to pay for that lesson neither is your instructor or GetDriving required to offer you compensation for the cancelation of said lesson (e.g. in the form of a free lesson or monetary value). However at the discretion of your instructor he/she may wish to offer you such compensation depending upon the reason of postponement.
8. Driving test
Booking of a driving test can be done by yourself or by your instructor on your behalf, some instructors may charge you a small booking fee for this service and this will be made aware to yourself by your instructor. Driving tests take priority over normal lessons and so there may be a time when your lesson is postponed to allow for another pupils test and vice versa. If this is the case your instructor will notify you immediately. When booking a test yourself you must notify your instructor as soon as possible, failure to do this may result, at short notice, in the car not being available for your test.
Your instructor reserves the right to withhold the use of his/her car for use on your test, if in his/her opinion you are not ready to take the driving test and your driving is a danger to public safety. This is a rare occurrence. If this is the case your instructor will advise you appropriately as your driving test date approaches.
The DSA require three working days for the cancellation or rescheduling of driving tests without losing the test fee. If your driving test is cancelled by the dsa your instructor will advise you on the re-booking procedure.
